Caresan supplies different types of face masks and face coverings.
The most popular mask that we sell is the Type IIR Surgical Face Mask but what are the advantages and disadvantages of this mask?
Disposal Type IIR Medical Masks are designed to guard against the transmission of infection by either droplet or airborne exposure. High protection rated masks (EN14683) can assist in reducing the risk of possible contamination from viruses such as COVID-19, SARS and H1N1.
Face coverings are mandatory on public transport throughout the UK.
This type of mask protects against infectious agents that are transmitted by droplets but it does not protect against airborne infectious agents. It will therefore not prevent the wearer from being potentially contaminated when exposed by a virus.
A Type IIR Surgical Face Mask is designed to prevent droplets of saliva or secretions from the upper respiratory tract when the wearer breaths out. If the mask is worn by a caregiver, the surgical mask helps to protectsthe patient and their environment. If the mask is worn by a contagious patient, it then prevents the patient from contaminating his or her surroundings and caregivers.
The Type IIR Surgical Face Mask also protects the wearer from infection transmitted by droplets or from the risk of splashes of biological fluids (a waterproof layer is required in this senario). A visor can help further reduce the risk of droplet exposure.
Type IIR Surgical Face Masks are often used in different roles or for differing purposes:
- Medical examinations and COVID-19 testing stations
- Isolation or quarantine
